Family Pictures

Mrs. Esau took our family pictures the other day at the park. There are more to be posted, but this is already a significant post. Thank you, Mrs. Esau!

Thank goodness for digital cameras! This shot took about fifteen trys, but everybody looks pleasant.

There's Mischief In Her Eye

Funnies

This evening we were doing some cooking when the smoke alarm went off. Audra looked at Nicole with surprise on her face. "A bomb!"
"Not quite." Nicole assured her.

The Fool's Prayer

After reading Luke 18:9-14 it reminded me of this poem. I thought it might bless someone else.
Kayla

The Fool's Prayer

THE royal feast was done; the King
Sought some new sport to banish care,
And to his jester cried: "Sir Fool,
Kneel now, and make for us a prayer!"

The jester doffed his cap and bells,
And stood the mocking court before;
They could not see the bitter smile
Behind the painted grin he wore.

He bowed his head, and bent his knee
Upon the Monarch's silken stool;
His pleading voice arose: "O Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!

"No pity, Lord, could change the heart
From red with wrong to white as wool;
The rod must heal the sin: but Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!

"'T is not by guilt the onward sweep
Of truth and right, O Lord, we stay;
'T is by our follies that so long
We hold the earth from heaven away.

"These clumsy feet, still in the mire,
Go crushing blossoms without end;
These hard, well-meaning hands we thrust
Among the heart-strings of a friend.

"The ill-timed truth we might have kept--
Who knows how sharp it pierced and stung?
The word we had not sense to say--
Who knows how grandly it had rung!

"Our faults no tenderness should ask.
The chastening stripes must cleanse them all;
But for our blunders -- oh, in shame
Before the eyes of heaven we fall.

"Earth bears no balsam for mistakes;
Men crown the knave, and scourge the tool
That did his will; but Thou, O Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!"

The room was hushed; in silence rose
The King, and sought his gardens cool,
And walked apart, and murmured low,
"Be merciful to me, a fool!"

Drive Time!

Nicole got her driver's permit today! She has been anxiously waiting since her sixteenth birthday, as have the people that she babysits for. She is out practicing right now in a deserted parking lot. Unfortunately for ease of learning, she must learn to drive in either a fifteen passenger van, a manual car, or a huge truck, but it will work out in the long run. After driving our cars, everything else will seem easy!

Puppy Love

More preparations. Daddy cut down the tree in our backyard in order to make room for a shed for me to move into so Audra has a place in the house not in our parent's room. So since I am not going to be "in the house" anymore, Daddy got me a dog. Yes, me, the self-professed dog disliker. Maybe I don't dislike them as much as I thought:). Daddy and I went to the animal shelter today and got my puppy. His name is now Gyp, like from James Herriot, because he has a floppy ear and has not barked (yet). He is mellow, and he doesn't lick, so he is exactly what I wanted. But now I have to go see what kind of mess he has made....
