Pigtails!

Today was apparently a day for matching hairstyles. And, of course, any reason to take pictures of some of the cute smiles we have around is sufficient.

Blacksmithing

Jordan has been doing blacksmithing for a while, and is getting good enough to practice on his own. Just recently, he bought all the materials to make his own forge, and it is now in working order in the backyard.
Beginning to mix the mortar.
For a real job, you've got to get messy.
Every job around here has an audience.

All set up. Yes, he is using a hair-dryer as the blower. That's one of the advantages of having eight sisters:).

Going at it. The first night he made a fire rake and a hot cutter.

Chris was working on his own forge. He wants to be just like Jordan, and he is not going to wait until he grows up.

Happy Birthday Two You!

Nicole is now eighteen, and beginning to enjoy privileges like teaching and no schoolwork herself.
Chris is loving being as old as Kendra (for a month, at least). The day after his birthday, he came out of his bedroom rubbing his belly. "I think I'm gonna get big today. My tummy's growing."

Random Pictures

I thought you all might enjoy these random shots since nothing out of the normal has been happening around here. This first one is not a prank. Raylene was upstairs getting ready to vacuum and found it on the ground. None of the pictures were really good but this one is the best. I guess even our rubberbands go along with the family theme of music.

Daddy found a place were we can get peaches incredibly inexpensively, so we (Mommy, Raylene, and I) have been canning a whole lot. Final count was somewhere between 50 and 60 quarts.

Daddy got a St. Bernard mix a few week ago and she has been growing like a weed ever since. She is already as big as two of our other dogs and still growing!

The other night we were all playing our instruments in the living room when Daddy picked up Shauna's violin and started playing songs by ear! He has always said he had no talent, but now we know he does, he is just humble about it.
In Christ,
Kayla
